Goal Setting Group- New Service Alert!
Thanks to funding kindly granted by the National Grid Community Matters fund, we are able to deliver a brand new service! Running every Wednesday from 10:30am until 12:30pm, our new Goal Setting Group will have a keen focus on supporting our members back into work, education, or volunteering.
Around 7,000 people aged 16 and over in Derby are unemployed; this is a noticeable increase from the previous year. Sadly, 49% of disabled people in Derby are not in any sort of employment. Our members have a range of barriers to accessing employment as a result of their brain injury; these can be cognitive and physical impairments such as fatigue, mobility issues, communication problems, and dexterity problems, as well as workplace and societal barriers including a lack of awareness and understanding, stigma, unrealistic expectations, and lack of workplace accommodations. These not only affect someone ability to obtain work but also maintain it for a sustained period of time. This is something we aim to overcome!
These workshops will teach key skills to aid in overcoming these barriers and increase confidence, self-esteem, and motivation. Workshops include: CV writing, interview skills, self-advocacy, skill development, job searching, SMART goals, and workplace etiquette/professionalism.
